This Friday sees the Melbourne Techno Collective and Darkbeat crews join forces to present a special set from legendary German producer Robert Babicz at New Guernica. Babicz has been redefining the boundaries of electronic music since the early ‘90s. From releasing and performing acid techno as Rob Acid, to his role as a highly-sought after producer and studio wizard infusing technical perfection with deep emotion, everything Robert does expresses his desire to celebrate beauty and humanity, and to live each moment with utmost consciousness. Support comes from Jamie Stevens, Matt Radovich, Rollin Connection, Dave Juric, Vohkinne (AKA Craig McWhinney), Simon Murphy, Mish’chief, Sam McEwin, Caine Sinclair, Sebastian Wild, Jay Reading and Peter Baker.
Saturday sees Revolver open the shutters for a morning party called Rise & Shine, featuring Sunshine & Disco Faith Choir featuring Amanda Perry. Following their debut live performance at Midnight Mass, Sunshine & Disco Faith Choir are back and set to bring the house down. They’ve put together a special show just for Revolver so whether you’re partying through the night for its 7am start or getting up early, it’s one to get psyched for. Along for the ride is Luke Vecchio, Kids Table, Dan Bentley.
On Saturday night over at Banana: Peach (the level above The Bottom End), Charades and Konnekt’d crews are presenting Belgium producer/DJ Locked Groove. Both his productions and dj sets share the effortless class of classic Chicago anthems combined with eerie qualities of raw industrial jams. This crossover complexion showcases a bold vision that puts him miles ahead of the tropes with an uncompromising influence. Backing him up is Sly Faux, Jackson Ruan, Leeroid and Sundelin b2b with U-Khan.
Later on Saturday night, Brown Alley has a little rooftop party going down with some classic late night selectors. The party’s called Whomst? And features Spacey Space, T-Rek
Silversix, Butters, Hey Sam and Luke Vecchio. It’s a classy affair, rolling on from 1am til sunrise with $10 martinis (ooooh boy), $10 entry.
On Sunday night another installment of Resonant is going down at Bar Open. The series is devoted to exploring the more experimental side of electronic music with an emphasis on underground artists using hardware instruments and equipment. This one features Erin K Taylor, Delphic Karma, Volupt and SFBM. It kicks off at 8pm and entry’s just a fiver.
