G’day pals, this Thursday June 1 sees UK producer/DJ Ben Pearce do a sneaky encore for a charity event at Revolver. All door proceeds go towards raising funds for Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) – the world’s leading independent organisation for medical humanitarian aid. Every day 30,000 Médecins Sans Frontières field staff are providing assistance to people caught in crises around the world. A fairly worthy cause I reckon. Pearce’s Ascension tour kicked off the Australian leg at Brown Alley last week and by all accounts he didn’t hold back. He’s off to Brisbane on Friday (flying the night after a Revolver sesh? Ouch.) Don’t miss this final opportunity. Local support comes from Luke Vecchio, Dean Turnley, Roberto, Hans DC, Jacob Mugelli & Francesco Castelli, Jordan Brando and Dan Bentley.

On Friday, legendary Japanese selector Kenji Takimi rolls into town ahead of his Vivid LIVE show in Sydney. Those who experienced his Golden Plains set in 2016 will know Takimi takes party-goers on an aural journey second to none. Defying unspoken genre rules and mixing indie-rock with house and disco and everything in between, get down to Sub Club to experience his decades of experience behind the decks. Kenji is best known for his critically-acclaimed work as Crue-l Grand Orchestra and Luger E-Go, as well as remixes for artists like Hiroshi Fujiwara, Cornelius, A Mountain of One, Cut Copy, Boris and countless more. One of Japan’s busiest and most sought-after DJ’s, Takimi has a busy schedule both in Japan and overseas and has performed alongside Andrew Weatherall, Armand Van Helden, DJ Harvey, Theo Parrish, Felix Da Housecat, Rub ‘n Tug, Idjut Boys, DJ Alfredo and Optimo amongst many others. Supports are Sleep D, Noise In My Head and Pjenné.

2017’s seen a few techno DJs testing the waters and throwing a little trance into their sets to spice things up. Has it been long enough now that we can all give trance a go again? General reaction has been divided, but if you wanna give the genre a chance, maybe dip your toe in with Perfect Stranger at My Aeon on Friday. The Israeli veteran plays a heavily techno and psychedelic influenced progressive-trance sound – the sort of sets that find their home in big open-air festivals like Rainbow Serpent or Earthcore etc. Not this night though. It’ll be time to get euphorically intimate with My Aeon’s killer sound system. The night is hosted by the DJ trio DXM who are also celebrating their ten years together, so it should be a loose time. Further local support comes from Suseri, Crimemaster Gogo, HiJacker and upstairs on the ‘Dark Side of the Machine’ floor: Farebi Jalebi, Osciloptix, Autopsy, Paralysis^ and Belfegor.
