This Friday March 31, Melbourne based label Temporal Cast are hosting a showcase in the Grace Darling basement. Coming to fruition in 2013, Temporal Cast have releases from Kangaroo Skull and Cale Sexton under the labels belt with more in the pipeline for 2017. Coming out for the basement bash are Chiara Kickdrum, Kangaroo Skull and X-Axis throwing down live sets plus DJ support from Kasun, Cale Sexton and Jamal Amir.

A few blocks over, Glamorama hosts Irish born, Berlin based deep house producer and DJ The Drifter. On top of holding down an intense touring schedule, he’s also one of the brains behind Maeve records. He’s a master of his craft, whether playing disco, techno or house. With a background in traditional folk music, it’s safe to say he isn’t bound by genre.

Also on Friday, party hip hop night Reup is back, now at New Guernica since the beloved Mercat Basement closure. Stephelles, Infinity Blade, Amy Axegal, Gamegirl, Tranter and Sofie Roze will be throwing the dank stuff around from 9pm.

On Saturday April 1, Houses in Motion are taking over Section 8 all day and night for their Get The Funk Out Of My Face party. The team has opted for a more no frills vibe – just booty-shakin’ and body-jerkin’ tunes nonstop, free entry and hopefully some good weather. What else do ya need really? On board are DJs Nite Fleit, Millú, Roy Blues, After Midnight Limonata, Oliver Francis and Bander Xyng.

If you’re looking for tuna with a little more pep on Saturday, check out the Arteq Turns Two day party going down at the new North Melbourne open-air warehouse space: The Third Day. Apparently we can still have open-air parties in April now, cheers global warming. Heading up the party is a live set from Zero Percent, the side project of The Presets’ Kim Moyes and veteran producer/DJ Mike Callander. These guys know their way around obscene amounts of equipment so expect something special. Filling out the lineup is a strong selection of Melbourne DJ talent: Retza, Chiara Kickdrum, Steve Ward, Machete, Illuccio, Karl Devic and Kirk Chetcuti. It kicks off at 1pm.
