YNGWIE MALMSTEEN MASTER CLASS

The mighty Yngwie J. Malmsteen – master of neoclassical shred – is heading to Australia this December for clinics in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. This is an unprecedented opportunity to see two hours  of the master demonstrating his skills up close. This isn’t something Yngwie does very often and tickets are selling almost as fast as Yngwie’s triple-octave sweep-picked arpeggios. General Admission are $89.95 but there’s also Premium Gold Admission for $139.95 which gives you guaranteed seating in the first or second row plus a free gift.  Yngwie will be in Melbourne on Wednesday December 11, 7/.30pm until late, at the George Wood Performing Arts Centre, Yarra Valley Grammar, Ringwood.

FOR OUR HERO UNLEASH YOUNG WOLVES

Melbourne band For Our Hero has just released the music video for their new single Young Wolves which has already amassed over 40,000 views on YouTube. The track was co-written with Alex DeLeon, singer for popular US band The Cab, who also provides vocals on the track. The band’s EP, also titled Young Wolves, was released in June and the band has two Melbourne shows this month: Thursday August 22 at Next at the Colonial Hotel and Saturday August 24 at Wrangler Studios.

STEVEN WILSON TO TOUR

Regarded as a visionary and one of the driving forces behind the modern progressive rock and metal movement, Steven Wilson, the man who created Porcupine Tree, is an eclectic and prolific artist. Witnessing a Steven Wilson live performance is to be engulfed by mind-bending visuals and a bombastic aural surroundscape leaving audiences captivated and breathlessly longing for more. Accompanying Wilson will be a collective of world class calibre musicians (Guthrie Govan – lead guitar, Adam Holzman – keyboards, Theo Travis – flute & saxophone, Nick Beggs – bass guitar & Chapman Stick, Chad Wackerman – drums), and the sound in the room will be delivered in four channel surround with isolated instruments bursting from every corner of the room – something no-one has attempted since Pink Floyd’s heyday. Wilson will be at Billboard on Wednesday October 2, tickets on sale now.
