High Tension have both good news and bad news this week. They are saying goodbye to founding member and percussionist Damian Coward and welcoming replacement Lauren Hammel (Fear Like Us). Hammel jumps on the stool straight away to travel to New Zealand with the band this month. You can see her play with Batpiss at the Evelyn on Friday December 4 or with The Meanies and Bodyjar on Friday December 18 at the Prince.
Soundwave have added a couple of new metal bands to the 2016 lineup. Killswitch Engage are coming back to play Alive Or Just Breathing in its entirety and Ill Nino will be playing their 2001 album Revolution, Revolucion in full. Horror metal band Terror Universal (featuring current or former members of Machine Head, Soulfly and Ill Nino) will return to the festival for the second year running.
Ol’ rocking renegades Sevendust are making a return to the country on the back of new album Kill The Flaw. They’re a pretty tight unit live, having played together for so many years. They’ll headline a bunch of shows next March including 170 Russell on Friday March 18. Tickets are available now. Go get your Waffle on.
Lagwagon and Flatliners have unsurprisingly sold out their show at Max Watt’s on Friday December 4. As a result they’ve scheduled an additional show on Thursday December 3 at Northcote Social Club. You can also go check them out when they play at Barwon Club in Geelong on Wednesday December 2.
Epica are bringing their new album The Quantum Enigma to Australia next March. The symphonic metal band will play East Coast dates with Perth band Voyager. 170 Russell will host this spectacular show on Sunday March 20. Tickets available now.

Their last album Modified came out in 1999, when you were still in high school, watching 10 Things I Hate About You and wearing shell necklaces.
After a grim touch and go situation over the past few weeks the health status of Bad Brains’ Dr Know has improved and the band have happily revealed that he is no longer in a critical condition. They reached out to fans on the weekend to thank them for their well wishes and ask for continued privacy as he continues to improve. “Positive vibes and PMA”, they signed off.
