BIG WEEK AT THE BENDIGO
On Wednesday November 18 catch Long Knife from Portland, Oregon, joined by Batpiss, Flour and Kremlings. Kicks off at 8pm. On Friday November 20, Tasmania’s Mustang launch their new album alongside The Devil’s Pawn, Vendettas and Musclecar. Then on Saturday November 21, Germany’s Downfall of Gaia will showcase their latest album Aeons Unveils The Thrones Of Decay, out now through Metal Blade Records. Along with them for the ride are Brisbane blackened-sludge wizards Hope Drone, who have just released their latest record, Cloak of Ash on Relapse Records. Plus Colossvs, YLVA, and dark post-punk newcomers Diecut.
ZOMBIE MOTORS WRECKING YARD SIGNS TO NAPALM
Zombie Motors Wrecking Yard have just signed to Napalm Records, with an album already scheduled for 2016. Vocalist Ran says, “Zombie Motors Wrecking Yard are fucking stoked to be in the Napalm Records Army, we are busily working away on our debut album of Australian dirty rock’n’roll styled stoner galactic blues and destruction. We are recording in factories, strip clubs and back rooms with booze and weed staining the walls. Why do it like everyone else when we can do it the way we want? We are the galactic mother fuckers from the wild west of Victoria, fuelled on gasoline and running on empty.”
NEW DRIVETIME COMMUTE SINGLE
Melbournian math punk boys DriveTime Commute are back with the release of their new breakneck single Sharkitect, taken from their forthcoming EP due for release in early 2016. Mashing together a dirty attitude with badarse experimental rhythms, DriveTime Commute’s fat sound sews together elements of punk, hardcore and mathcore. DriveTime Commute are taking Sharkitect across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Catch them at The Public Bar in North Melbourne on Friday November 20, a secret show in Melbourne on Tuesday November 24 (keep your eyes on social media for that one), Music Man Megastore in Bendigo on Tuesday December 1 and The Loft in Warrnambool on Saturday December 12 with Mammoth Mammoth.

SheFest showcases local female fronted bands and musicians and is back at Mr Boogie Man Bar on Saturday November 21 for the second time. Catch Vivant, Purroxide (playing their debut gig) MisSsta, Long Holiday, Savi Bomb and SheWolf from 5pm.
THE AMITY AFFLICTION RELEASE BRAND NEW TRACK
The Amity Affliction have released a brand new track Shine On, available digitally now. Vocalist Joel Birch told triple j, “We wrote it on Warped Tour and recorded a very, very rough demo in the back of the bus. We had [producer] Will Putney, the same guy that did Let The Ocean Take Me, come out [and] spent five days in the studio doing pre-production and then fixing it up and tightening the song.” Shine On is the first new music Amity have released since Let the Ocean Take Me debuted at #1 on the ARIA album chart in June 2014. The release comes just weeks ahead of December’s Big Ass Tour where they’ll take the stage with A Day To Remember, Motionless In White and The Ghost InsideCatch the Big Ass Tour at Rod Laver Arena on Thursday December 17.
ROYAL FUNK FESTIVAL: SUMMER EDITION
The first Royal Funk event happened in June, in celebration of Prince’s birthday. It was intended as a one-off, but the audience and performers had such a blast the organisers have decided to turn it into a regular mini-festival. So on Sunday December 6, Shadow Electric in Abbotsford will host the Royal Funk Festival: Summer Edition. Mondegreen and Cocoa Noire will join house band Lake Minnetonka in bringing the live funk, while DJs Chelsea Wilson and MzRizk will take us back to that ‘80s sound we know and love. Doors at 5pm, band kicks off at 6pm. Guest vocalists joining Lake Minnetonka on the night include Allysha Joy, Chelsea Wilson and Henry Manetta, with more surprises to come. Doors open at 5pm, and the live funk kicks off from 6pm.
KATATONIA HITS THE STUDIO WITH NEW DRUMMER
Katatonia have confirmed details of their new band new member drummer Daniel ’Mojjo’ Moilanen. Vocalist Jonas Renkse says, “We first met Mojjo back in 2009 where his band at the time, Engel, had joined up with us and Paradise Lost on a UK tour and we soon realised we shared the same musical background and ideals. We stayed in touch over the years and when Daniel Liljekvist quit Katatonia in 2014 we decided to give Mojjo a call. He has now been with us for well over a year, so far only as a live member, but now is the time for him to join the Katatonia album cycle and most importantly make his own impression on our new material.” Katatonia are working at Stockholm’s Studio Gröndahl with engineer Karl Daniel Lidén on their tenth album, due in 2016 on Peaceville Records.
