Canadian post rock duo cleopatrick upgrade their Melbourne venue after selling out original show.

One of the most in-demand rising rock bands at the moment, Canadian post rock act cleopatrick will tour Australia for the first time ever this September. After selling out Howler, the band will be moving to the larger Corner Hotel for their Melbourne show on Friday, 26 September. All tickets for Howler remain valid for the new venue.

The tour follows the release of their bold and introspective second record Fake Moon, a sonic journey blending lo-fi grit with expansive production and raw existentialism. The Cobourg, Ontario pair are set to unleash their raw energy and gritty sonics on Australian stages.

Known for their no-frills intensity and genre-defying style, cleopatrick’s latest work is a fearless step forward, fusing lo-fi crunch with expansive, emotional songwriting. Sonically, cleopatrick are the audio equivalent to Playstation 1 graphics, serving up gritty 8-bit guitars, minimalist synth lines, glitchy vocals and shoegaze-like refrains to create a sound that is both retro and otherworldly.

With influences ranging from Radiohead’s experimental brilliance to the grounded surrealism of Dijon’s Absolutely and the raw intimacy of Califone, cleopatrick can take listeners on a journey of self-reflection or a voyage to the stars. Live, the duo delivers an ethereal and intimate musical experience, where sounds develop hypnotically, creating complex and meditative soundscapes that range from visceral anthems to sprawling instrumental collages.

Childhood friends Luke Gruntz and Ian Fraser have amassed over 100 million streams, sold-out tours across the US, UK and EU, and earned a 2022 JUNO nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year. Having finally turned their attention to Australia, they are set to deliver some truly unforgettable performances for their debut shows.
