Civic Life On The Big Screen

Civic Life is a series of films, made by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor which aim to take viewers on a journey delving into the relationships between community, belonging and a sense of place.

The screening will include award winning films, Who Killed Brown Owl, Joy and a preview of Tiong Bahru– shot in Singapore with an epic volunteer cast of 150 people.

This special screening of the films will see the films edited together, minus any titles or credits resulting in uncertainty as to when one film ends and another begins, intensifying the overlapping themes of identity, place, belonging, hope, loss and new beginnings.

Following the screening will be a Q&A session with Lawlor and to put the cherry on top Lawlor will also host the Our Civic Lives workshop at ACMI on Saturday June 4 providing artists and filmmakers with a four hour intensive masterclass. The session will also include the opportunity to have your ideas for micro-short films inspired by ideas of place, community and identity workshopped by Lawlor and featured on the website of the latest Civic Life film, Tiong Bahru. Places are strictly limited to 15 participants, so get a move on and book your ticket now!
