The three-day festival is a celebration of design, culture and the craft of tattooing is returning to Melbourne.

Need a little inspiration for your next piece? Look no further than Rites of Passage, the tattoo expo taking place across the weekend of April 26 to 28 in Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building.

This year’s lineup is the biggest ever, with around 450 talented tattooists from across Australia and around the world preparing to show off their art, talk shop and etch designs onto a few eagerly awaiting bodies.

The touring festival is a meeting place for tattoo industry workers and enthusiasts. As well as live tattoo demos, the event will also feature retail vendors selling the newest and most exciting tattoo tech and art activations, as well as live music and the grand final of one of Australia’s most important tattooing competitions.

The Australian Tattoo Series has a round at every tattoo expo across the country and sees artists battle it out for  $60,000 worth of cash prizes.

This year, the final will be taking place in Melbourne, which means visitors will be able to see the best in the business at work.

On the lineup this year: Andre Malcom, Ben Thomas, Chris Rigoni, DBKAYE, HanyTattooStyle, JakeTattoos and many more, with awards for artists and giveaways for fans taking place over the weekend.

If you’re in need of some fuel (or a little liquid courage) there will also be an exclusive food truck centre with snacks from as well as a bar set up inside.
