“Melbourne and especially New Order was always on the bucket list for me. It’s just really lovely to be asked and I’m really looking forward to it.”

– Celya AB

If you’re new to Melbourne International Comedy Festival, New Order is one of its biggest and best annual showcases, plucking three exceptional UK comedians each year for a side-splitting nightly show.

This year it’s raising the bar, bringing in Celya AB, Dan Tiernan and Josh Jones for one of its most critically-acclaimed best lineups in recent years. Check them out below and buy tickets before they all sell out.

Celya AB

  • Winner Best Newcomer 2022 Chortle Comedy Awards
  • Finalist BBC’s New Comedy Award 2021
  • Finalist Best Newcomer 2019 Funny Women Awards

Hailing from Paris, Celya AB is one of the breakout stars of the UK comedy scene, winning awards from the likes of Chortle, the Birmingham Comedy Festival, and even a position as a finalist in the BBC’s New Comedy Award.

After starting comedy at the encouragement of UK comic Karen Bayley, Celya AB has captivated audiences from Edinburgh to Montreal. As a sign of just how hyped her 2024 Comedy Festival run has been, she’s also starring in one of the festival’s most prestigious showcases, Upfront.

Dan Tiernan

  • Nominee Best Newcomer 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards
  • Winner Best Newcomer 2023 ISH Comedy Awards
  • Winner BBC New Comedian of The Year 2022
  • Winner British Comedian of The Year 2022

Tiernan is one of the highest-energy comics to come out of the UK scene in recent years, blending his self-effacing routines with unpredictable physicality that will have you in stitches.

A dyspraxic comedian with a truly unique take on the artform, Tiernan has killer punchlines beneath the surface and is one of the few contemporary stand-ups truly comfortable with using silence as an effective counterpoint to outbursts that will stay in your memory, long after this show.

Josh Jones

  • Nominee Best Newcomer 2022 Edinburgh Comedy Awards
  • Finalist BBC New Comedy Award 2019

One of the best joke-writers at this year’s Comedy Festival, Jones is one of those rare comedic forces that hit with every single line. He comes to Melbourne after selling out his last two Edinburgh shows (Waste of Space and Gobsmacked) to wide acclaim, so rest assured you’ll be in for a treat at the Town Hall.
