Recently signed to I OH YOU, and the first band to join the stable that isn’t a filthy shithead rock outfit, City Calm Down are a Melbourne four-piece who favour synths and dance to grunge and bucket bongs. A baritone and clean guitar licks is always going to attract comparisons to Joy Division, but Pleasure & Consequence contains more than a few deft touches which alleviate any chance of being labelled derivative. The smattering of horns is the icing on the cake.
