Chasing Ghosts are calling it quits with two massive final shows

Words by staff writer

Chasing Ghosts have announced an indefinite hiatus after more than 15 years, with two final shows to close things out.

The alternative outfit’s frontman Jimmy Kyle confirmed the decision comes down to family, with Chasing Ghosts members stepping back to focus on fatherhood and life away from the road. The band has spent over a decade and a half touring relentlessly across Australia and internationally, building a reputation for emotionally charged live performances across four continents.

The final Melbourne show on 26 June at Northcote Social Club is shaping up to be a significant event well beyond the music itself. The evening will open with a Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Bill Nicholson, with Uncle Kutcha Edwards also sharing words on the night. Celeste Liddle and Senator Lidia Thorpe will appear as guest speakers, while First Nations artists DENNI, Abselom and Oblivion round out the bill.

Chasing Ghosts Amnesia Everybody

  • 26 June — Northcote Social Club, Northcote, Melbourne, VIC

Before the Melbourne farewell, Chasing Ghosts will play their final interstate show on 15 May at Darling Nikki’s in St Peters, Sydney. The intimate venue is expected to make for a raw send-off for fans outside Victoria looking to catch the band one last time.

Remaining merchandise available through the band’s online store will be the last ever printed under the Chasing Ghosts name, so collectors and longtime fans will want to move on that sooner rather than later. Tickets for both shows are on sale now.

Since forming, Chasing Ghosts have played stages across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Europe, carving out a legacy built on connection, community and cultural strength. The Amnesia Everybody farewell marks the end of a chapter for one of the country’s most committed alternative acts.
