Netflix star and Emmy-winning entertainer, comedian and hairstylist Jonathan Van Ness is coming to Melbourne.

Jonathan Van Ness will bring their Imaginary Living Room Olympian tour to Australia this September. The tour will kick off in Perth on Friday 23 September, before heading to Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne’s Plenary Theatre on Wednesday September 28.

It follows Jonathan’s first worldwide comedy tour, Jonathan Van Ness: Road to Beijing, which saw them perform to sold-out theatres in 40 cities in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

“Australia is one of the most amazing places and I cannot wait to come back and share my new show with y’all,” they said. “We’ve been through a lot the last couple of years and now it’s time to catch up and celebrate, queens!”

Famed for their role on the Emmy Award-winning Netflix reboot series Queer Eye, where they appear as a hair guru and self-care advocate, Van Ness is promising a night of gymnastics and tales from their life as a self-described “nonbinary bad bitch”.

They’re also well-known as the executive producer of the Netflix series Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness, based on their podcast of the same name. They also starred in the Emmy-nominated web series Gay of Thrones, which wrapped its eighth and final season last year and garnered Emmy nominations in 2016, 2018 and 2019 for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.

His upcoming comedy tour, Imaginary Living Room Olympian is currently running in the US and abroad. In September 2019, he released his memoir, Over The Top: A Raw Journey To Self-Love, which was named a must-read book by The New York Times, TIME Magazine and NPR to name a few.

Jonathan is also the author of the children’s picture book, Peanut Goes For The Gold, about a gender non-binary guinea pig.
