Bourke Street transforms into sweaty queer paradise for A Very Very Gay homecoming

Bourke Street
words by staff writer

A Very Very Gay day party is bringing delicious chaos back to Melbourne this January.

If you missed out on the sold out shows last year, here’s your chance to see what all the fuss is about. A Very Very Gay parties have been tearing up dancefloors from Melbourne to Sydney, London and even Glastonbury Festival, building a reputation as one of the sweatiest, most joyful queer parties going around. Now it’s rolling back into Bourke Street Courtyard with a lineup that’s absolutely stacked.

What started as a Melbourne party in 2025 has exploded into somewhat of a global movement, taking its signature energy and that infamous clothes line to venues across the world. A Very Very Gay day party isn’t your standard club night; it’s eight hours of pure, unfiltered queer joy where the dancefloor becomes a sweaty community and everyone’s there for the same reason: to dance their faces off.

DJ Sarah, Flow, Jove b2b Pat De Ruiter, M’rk, Normcore b2b Dorkykenny, UK’s Reenie, Rojdar and Ryan Marshall are all locked in to deliver eight solid hours of house and trance. It’s the kind of lineup that knows exactly what it’s doing, taking you from afternoon sunshine vibes straight through to evening euphoria without letting up for a second.

Bourke Street Courtyard gives everyone plenty of room to move, which you’ll need because this party doesn’t do chill. It’s built its reputation on creating spaces where queer people can show up, be themselves and lose it on the dancefloor surrounded by their people. That clothesline everyone keeps talking about? Yeah, it’ll be there, adding to the chaotic DIY energy that makes these events feel less like a club night and more like your best mate’s birthday party, if your best mate happened to book some of the country’s best DJs.

From 1pm until 9pm on Saturday, 17 January, Bourke Street Courtyard is going to transform into exactly the kind of party Melbourne needs right now. Whether you’re a A Very Very Gay veteran or a first-timer, get ready for something special.
