The album is called Crystal Theatre and it’s set to come out on Friday May 13. Recorded throughout 2010 in small-town Portland in NSW, Crystal Theatre is a striking collection of sleepy psychedelic tunes, hazy and sun-drenched with a deeper and darker tone than the band’s usual style.
Belles Will Ring have expanded their sound with this album, adding a wilder and weirder texture by experimenting with vintage keyboards, trumpets, flutes, character voices and found sounds.
Crystal Theatre follows on from the band’s 2007 album Mood Patterns and 2008’s mini-album Broader Than Broadway.
It will be launched across the country, in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Maroochydore and Katoomba this July.
