Celebrate 10 years of good memories at Bar Oussou on June 12 with a lamb spit roast, open mic and performances from the legendary Amadou Suso.

Bar Oussou is a staple of Sydney Road – a colourful and cosy bar that’s been the home for live bands and has been serving French Senegalese dishes for 10 years. Since it began in 2012, it’s been inspiring emerging artists from across the globe and they’re celebrating the memories created in the venue with a day of festivities on Sunday June 12, featuring live music and a spit roast.

Bar Oussou is known for bringing the music of Africa to Sydney Road, as well as the sound of a world of cultures that includes Latin, broken jazz, ethno and euro influences, hip hop, reggae, funk, soul, experimental and spoken word.

Celebrate 10 years of great memories with good food, drinks and music. The festivities will be happening on Sunday June 12 from 2pm until late – a full day and night of celebration. The bar’s founders, Ousmane and Mary, will be cooking a lamb spit with roast vegetables and a variety of delicious sides – grab a plate for $15. There will be fires to keep you warm in the courtyard and bartenders Laine, Trinity and Isi will be mixing the house special Senebisap and other cocktails. Grab a beer or wine with their drink specials on the day and enjoy the open mic, which is running from 2:30 – 6pm. Or, head across to their social media platforms to register for a slot.

The phenomenally talented Amadou Suso and Friends are playing from 7:30pm until late. Often referred to as the Jimi Hendrix of the kora, Amadou Suso is a master of the kora and direct descendant of the world’s first kora player, this is not a show to be missed.

Drink specials on the night are $5 Coopers & Furphy Pots, $17 Jugs and $5 glass of wine ‘til 6pm.
