Southside Live

St Kilda Festival have revealed their New Music Stage lineup. The new music stage gives some of our best emerging talent a platform to showcase their music at Australia’s largest free music festival.

Ten new acts have been selected for this career boost, performing on the New Music stage on Sunday February 11. The crowd favourite takes home $5,000 and the invitation to play the main stage at St Kilda Festival in 2019. Voting for the crowd favourite will be open to the public from Sunday February 11 until Friday February 16. You can vote on the St Kilda Festival website.

The 2018 New Music stage lineup consists of Baker Boy, Batz, Cool Out Sun, May Field, Slow Coaching, Sugar Teeth, Swim Season, The Northern Folk, The Skeleton Club and Xani.

The City of Port Phillip Mayor, Cr Bernadene Voss, is proud that St Kilda Festival offers a program for artist discovery.

“The St Kilda Festival has provided a foundation for many up-and-coming artists over the years to build on their portfolios and experience in front of large crowds through the New Music stage competition,” says Voss. “The City of Port Phillip is passionate about supporting emerging acts and Australian music industry, and we’re eager to see what next year’s performers bring to the stage.”

In the past, the New Music Stage has hosted artists before their careers kicked off such as Client Liaison, Husky, Missy Higgins, and Stonefield.

The full St Kilda Festival lineup and program will be released in January.
