Australia’s only solar-powered festival is in back in 2017 for their third year of self-sufficiency presenting a sun-filled day of live music, art, and discussions from leading environmentalists, architects, activists, and entrepreneurs. Capping it off, all of the festival’s profits go towards renewable energy in Melbourne.
The event is presented by Finding Infinity, an organisation dedicated to fast-tracking the transition into renewables through creativity and consulting. The entirety of Off the Grid is powered by a solar array and battery bank, bolstered with a zero-waste policy.
“Our generation has an epic opportunity to flip the system around 10 years or less and make our cities completely self-sufficient,” say co-founder Ross Harding. “It’s 2017 already, it’s time to get on with it. This future is inevitable, we simply want to see the transition accelerate by allowing people to touch and feel the solutions.”
“It’s a rare opportunity that one can dance, learn, eat and drink for 13 hours whilst doing good for the environment,” adds executive producer Mary Grigoris. “Off the Grid creates a platform for community to create the change that they want to see.”
As for the tunes, get down for a sprawling party curated by Crown Ruler featuring sets from Jay Daniel, Chee Shimizu, Krakatau, Kaiit, Two Steps on the Water, Ben Fester, Jaala vs Man, Diana’s, Toni Yotzi and SOMA.
