Aussie supergroup Springtime announce Recital Centre show, national tour

Springtime

Springtime are heading out on a national tour to celebrate the release of their debut self-titled album, in store now via TFS Records & Joyful Noise.

This will be the first-time fans will be able to see Springtime playing their album in full live. Their debut record has drawn strong praise both home and abroad, with noise rock legend David Yow (of The Jesus Lizard and Scratch Acid) heaping commendation on the group.

“I love this shit It’s as monstrously ravishing as it is clumsy in its elegance. Words run into each other with little regard for one another’s injuries,” he said. “There are sounds who come out of nothingness to wallop and brutalize their fellow sounds.

“This Springtime record is so full of strange wanderings that are broken and piled up on themselves that the heads have no idea where their tails are. These three gentlemen work, play and improvise together in an emotionally volatile universe. You could call it “jazz”, but that word is way too jazzy for what Springtime creates. There is no pompous audacity. No terrible flagrancy. Their music is heartfelt. It’s important.”

We had a gander at Springtime back in May, the project of legendary members: Gareth Liddiard (The Drones, Tropical Fuck Storm), Jim White (Dirty Three, Xylouris White) and Chris Abrahams (The Necks, Laughing Clowns) understandably demanding our attention.

They’ve got single dates in every major city but in Victoria, they’ll be playing Melbourne Recital Centre on Wednesday March 2 and Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal on Thursday March 3 with Grace Cummings, as well as Meeniyan Town Hall on Friday March 4.
