The opening salvo from Ariel Pink’s Mature Themes album (out August 17) is a wispy soul lullaby. Ariel aches and yearns in a sincere seventies soul fashion while his backing singers croon in dulcet come-fuck-me tones. A Hammond synth piano rounds out the sound of this curious but very successful tune. Listen out for a tongue in cheek ‘she-bop she-bop’ towards the end.
