Stay up to date with what’s happening in Melbourne here.

Section 8 has long been supporters of Melbourne’s record community, not only hosting some of the best vinyl DJs in their space but also hosting many a record fair over the journey.

2021’s iteration of Record Store Month will be no different, with six of Melbourne’s most beloved record stores to set up shop at the popular inner-city watering hole.

Kicking things off on Sunday July 11 is Wax Museum Records – the city’s connoisseurs in hip hop and electronic music, before Northside Records drop in on Sunday July 18. On Sunday July 25, the likes of Bounce Audio, Natural Selection and Hawthorn’s Alley Tunes will occupy the space, offering crate-loads of vinyl spanning everything from techno to disco, blues, soul and beyond.

Capping off Record Store Month come Collingwood’s Skydiver Records on Sunday August 1, bringing their tastiest selections in electronic music and beyond.

As we can all acknowledge, COVID has been a disaster not just for Melbourne’s arts and events industries but for other businesses who underpin the city’s abundant music scene. This is the motivation for Record Store Month – returning the spotlight back on the independent record stores who sustain the city’s cultural heartbeat.

Section 8 is not just a record residence, it’s a party house too. So to keep the good times flowing across the four Sundays, staff from each of the record stores will be curating the tunes on their respective market day.

Sounds like a whole heap of fun!

It all goes down in the Section 8 carpark across four Sundays from July 11 until August 1. For more info, head to the Section 8 Facebook page when it becomes available.
