How is it possible there hasn’t been a band called Wolves before now? This Perth collective live up to the name, playing a gothic-tinged kind of indie rock complete with frantic notes from an electric violin and camp vocals by singer Adam Burford. Their urgent and melodramatic sound emulates the cynical pop cleverness of Placebo, but Wolves hit the gas where Placebo would apply the brakes. As a result, Mina feels strangely upbeat and life-affirming.
