Hayley Mary’s leads The Jezebels through this spacious, epic power pop number with a vocal performance inspired by Florence Henderson – a belting, impassioned female vocal that rushes from peak to shimmering peak. It’s a big song, but it leaves me cold. There’s nothing unique about it – not the hook, not the unrelenting drama – so it ends up feeling like a practice exercise in Triple J-sanctioned contemporary songwriting.
