Museum of Illusions Melbourne has locked in a Collins Arcade home
Your eyes are about to start lying to you, with Museum of Illusions Melbourne heading to the CBD.
Museum of Illusions Melbourne has signed a lease at Collins Arcade on Collins Street and plans to open its doors from mid-2027. It will be the chain’s second Australian outpost, following the Sydney museum that launched on 26 December 2025.
Inside, visitors can expect installations, optical illusions and hands-on experiences built to play tricks on the way you see and sense the world.
The Melbourne museum is aimed at all ages, so families, mates and tourists can wander through and have their perception put to the test.

The brand began in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015 and now operates in more than 70 locations across 31 countries, welcoming millions of guests every year.
The company says each venue is designed to leave people with a memorable experience and a grin that sticks around after they walk out.
Museum of Illusions CEO Kim Schaefer has said the Sydney response showed Australians are keen on playful, interactive experiences. She also pointed to Melbourne’s reputation for culture and creativity as a big part of the appeal.
Collins Arcade is managed by Kaipara Property Group, and its head of asset management, Matthew Woodroffe, has said the museum fits the plan for a space where retail, hospitality, work and entertainment overlap. He added that it gives locals and visitors another reason to spend time in the middle of the city.
Details on the exact opening date, ticketing and which experiences will be part of the Melbourne museum are yet to be announced, with more info set to land closer to launch.
