Andre Pangrazio tackles the issue of intergenerational trauma in his new three-part series

Words by Tom Parker

Pangrazio’s new series is an immersive escapade.

Andre Pangrazio, aka Andre Peter, is a talented guitarist, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Melbourne who pushes the boundaries of regular songwriting. In August, he released the three-part Interpretations, which reimagined a trio of revered songs for the guitar.

Now, Pangrazio is returning with his next work. Out on Friday October 30, Scatto mirrors the format of his previous effort, yet on this occasion he dives deep into intergenerational trauma.

Across the three Italian-titled tracks, ‘Scappare’ (flee), ‘Distrazione’ (distraction) and ‘I Postumi’ (aftermath), listeners are taken on a journey into the confronting and wounding experiences that underscore intergenerational trauma.

Combining the fluent chronology of the three songs with Pangrazio’s lyric-less music results in an immersive aural escapade that challenges all regular thinking.

Scatto came about following a traumatic episode endured by Pangrazio’s partner – an experience which resulted from feelings of cultural suppression. As Pangrazio continues to explore his own Italian heritage, he’s come to realise the importance of culture as a healer.

Scatto is out on Friday October 30. Keep up to date with Andre Pangrazio at his Instagram page.
