Playing it straight with a Roy Orbison-indebted ballad, Peak Twins conjure up a hypnotic and dark beauty replete with vintage “shooby-doo-wop” action. “Lynchian” is as clichéd of a descriptor you’d find these days, but c’mon, the band is called Peak Twins, the film clip is a one-shot in front of blue velvet curtains, and you can totally see Frank Booth shedding a sentimental and sociopathic tear to So Long. A stylistic change of pace that pays off big time.
