60 Seconds With… TIm Reid

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

The band is me, Tim Reid, but with help from my friends, and I play guitar and sing.

What do you reckon people will say you sound like?

Maybe like a distant cousin of Neil Finn or Michael Penn – an elusive, distant cousin?

What do you love about making music?

I like the space that music can get you too, removed from the everyday elements of your life. I especially like the act of creating music, creating a song and piecing it together.

What do you hate about the music industry?

There are so many great local artists in Melbourne and only so much industry love to go around. Everyone in my band is extremely talented and every one of them is so very deserving of obscene fame and fortune.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

I’d fancy lobbing a cheeky tune John Lennon’s way, circa his making of the Double Fantasy album. That album was just about the first one I ever listened to and I particularly like the dad sentiments on it.

If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?

Its hard to say, but if someone could just have stopped Chris de Burgh in his tracks before he unleashed the video clip for Don’t Pay the Ferryman on the world, I’d posit that at least YouTube would be a better place?

What can a punter expect from your live show?

A super-band of singer-songwriters!

What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?

My new EP, Only One which is now available via bandcamp!

When’s the gig and with who?

Sunday September 18 at the Empress Hotel – North Fitzroy, with The Weekend People. An afternoon show from 3.30pm!
