Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?

Someone once said I sounded like a cross between Ella Fitzgerald, Coco Rosie and AniDifranco. That was nice, even if slightly untrue.

What do you love about making music?

I love finding a story and putting all the pieces together to make them all fit into a song. I love the idea that gets stuck to you and sits there in the back of your head until you have a little time and a gee-tar in your hand. I love the adventure of making music with other people.

What do you hate about the music industry?

Ijust want to make music for people who want to listen. Often it seems a lot more complicated than that. It makes me tired. I hate that.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

I recently discovered I love Dolly Parton. I spent a whole afternoon You-Tubing her. She is old, she is fine and she is funny. And splendidly strange.I don’t have to travel back in time as she is coming to Melbourne soon. We’ll do tea. She’ll beg me to sell her my love-song Back Up Plan. I will politely refuse. She will then graciously make fun of my size 11 feet and inability to wear heels.

What can a punter expect from your live show?

I like to tell some funny stories, take some cheap shots at my lover and then sing some very serious and silly songs with ridiculously catchy tunes.

What you got to sell CD-wise?

My debut EP Me You Kitchen Now will be available on the night.

When’s the gig and with who?

Melting Pot Songwriters in the Round at 7pm with Seamus Anthony and Ewan Cloonan.
