60 Seconds with… Jess Ribeiro

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

Jess Ribeiro and The Bone Collectors. I boss people around, sing and play some guitar.

Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?

If they are initiates they will know that we come from the magic country and if they’re not they might just grunt…

What do you love about making music?

Connecting with the group you’re playing with and extending it out to the audience.

What do you hate about the music industry?

I don’t know. I just want everyone to be taken care of and looked after. I just smoked a joint so all I’m thinking of is that everyone needs to grow their own produce even if its in boxes in your tiny termite mound apartment.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

Patti Smith because I love her work and would like to have a little chat.

If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?

I don’t listen to enough modern day pop music to have a killing list yet.

What can a punter expect from your live show?

Something real good…

When’s the gig and with who?

Every Tuesday in September at the Toff in Town  from 8pm with a whole bunch of great artists like Sweet Jean, Forever Son, Patinka Cha Cha, Blood Red Bird, The Cherry Wood, Simone Page Jones and Miles O’Neil, Courtney Barnett and burlesque darling Rosy Rabbit. Also we got some of the recent NGV cartoonists coming in to launch comics and cartoons as well as sketching the audience and bands.
