The pair of shows are part of an Australian tour You Am I are set to embark on, where they’ll venture from Brisbane to Sydney, through Melbourne, before making their way up to Newcastle and back to Chatswood in Sydney.

The Lives of Others is set to be the seminal outfit’s 11th studio album, which lead singer Tim Rogers says emerged quite impulsively following a fishing adventure.

“I was going fishing in the morning, staying in a cheap hotel, and all these folk songs came out, for no reason really but as wordplay,” Rogers says of the album.

Rogers had been having doubts about his music, not sure if another You Am I record would emerge, before fellow local music legend Tex Perkins chimed with his support.

“I got a job bar tending. I didn’t tell the guys about it but I couldn’t envisage us making a record together again. I couldn’t get out of the funk I was in. Then I talked to Tex Perkins about it and he is wonderful about cutting through my over-dramatic stuff.”

Perkins suggested to not play for six months… then COVID happened and the rest is history.
