Righto – first things first – the event name: how did you come up with it, and what’s it all about?

"WOMADelaide Warm Up Party. It’s about giving WOMAD fans in Melbourne a taste of what is to come at the festival."

And what’s the damn show all about?

"WOMADelaide, at Botanic Park in Adelaide on March 11-14, is one of Australia’s most loved music festivals. WOMADelaide is a four day and night celebration of sounds from all over the planet. The WOMADelaide Warm Up Party on Thursday February 17 at The Order Of Melbourne on will again give Melbourne fans a taste of one exciting WOMADelaide act, The Woohoo Revue what’s in store.

What made you decide to put together the event?

 

"The WOMADelaide Warm Up Party is put together each year to help fans get excited aboutthe festival and provides a great FREE night out for families interested in live music."

Why should peo ple be interested in what you’re doing?

"The night not only features great music and live entertainment but also features WOMADelaide ticket giveaways, limited edition WOMADelaide merchandise, PLUS the first chance in Australia to hear and purchase Nigerian WOMADelaide headline act – Asa’s new CD Beautiful Imperfection."

Who should people check out – because if they don’t they’ll hate themselves for it?

"The Woohoo Revue who will be previewing their gypsy folk musical maelstrom and will be accompanied DJs SystaBB and Saca la Mois DJ on the decks who will keep the party going all night with the sounds of the planet.

If you had to talk someone into coming, how would you convince them?

"WOMADelaide is a culturally diverse festival. It is made great by many different communities coming together to celebrate not only a communal love of music, but one of family, friends and food from all over the world. Plus it’s a sneak peek preview of the 2011 WOMADelaide festival."

What sort of tunes influenced you into putting together the event ?

Do you believe music can make a difference in the world?

With hundreds of artists from everywhere in the world, everyone’s WOMAD will be different, WOMADelaide truly is a life changing music event.

What do you hope to achieve with the event?

 

We hope to encourage the Melbourne community to come out and enjoy the sounds of the world, though the WOMADelaide warm up night.

W hat would you recommend as the best activity to pursue whilst the event is happening?

Listening and dancing to some great music…. Fun….

When’s the gig and who is playing… and really, why should we all go?

The WOMADelaide Warm Up Party on Thursday 17 February 2011 at The Order of Melbourne. The Woohoo Revue who will be previewing their gypsy folk as well as DJs SystaBB and Saca la Mois DJ on the decks.


WOMADelaide 2011 will be held from Friday 11 – Monday 14 March outdoors in Adelaide’s beautiful Botanic Park. The program features performances and workshops on seven stages by some of the world’s best musicians, dancers and DJs, alongside street theatre and visual artists, the popular Taste the World cooking program, Artists in Conversations sessions and an All-Star Gala finale, together with around 100 food, crafts and display stalls and KidZone for children.
