How did you first start your brewing journey? My love for brewing started when helping my Dad make homemade ginger beer on our family property in rural Victoria.  A few years as a ski bum in Colorado introduced me to the incredible world of American craft brewing. To follow, many years of perfecting beer recipes, growing hops on the family farm and of course, plenty of ‘market research’.

What are your thoughts on the beer brewing scene in Melbourne? It’s world-class. The quality is second to none and we feel privileged to be part of it.

Of the beers you make, what’s your favourite? Depends on how I feel. As we hit the colder months, the JSP – Johnny Smoke Porter will be a nice winter warmer. That said, the ISA – India Saison is an amazing food pairing beer. The standard go-to beer is our XPA- Extra Pale Ale. We always have a keg of in our garage tap fridge.

What benefits are there for punters who opt for local breweries?
Support local ‘anything’ really. Any products made here in Melbourne provide local jobs and they have less of a carbon footprint.  We all need to get behind people just giving it a go in any industry.

What makes your brewery special?
We simply love creating beers that we want to drink. We make craft beers that play with the normal beer styles but have a point of difference. We live and breathe our mantra ‘Ales of Distinction’ – distinct in quality, flavour, and character.
