Boutique regional festival brings fireside sessions, iconic venues and a stacked lineup to the heart of spa country this August.
Winter Sounds is back for its fourth season, turning the historic churches, schoolhouses and country halls of Daylesford and surrounds into one of regional Victoria’s most magical winter escapes. Produced by the team behind the award-winning Riverboats Music Festival, the event invites music lovers to rug up, embrace the crisp air and wander between glowing stages and crackling fire pits from 27 to 30 August 2026.
This year’s program mixes beloved Australian icons with fresh local talent across unique, atmospheric venues. Whether you’re catching a string quartet in a century-old church or rocking out in a bush hall, the festival perfectly captures that special combination of cool country charm and world-class live music.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday 27 August with acclaimed singer-songwriter Lior performing alongside a string quartet inside the beautiful St Peter’s Church in Daylesford.
Friday 28 August offers a double header, with indie favourites Augie March taking over St Peter’s Church, while Henry Wagons supported by Queenie play Bullarto Hall, with punters able to catch the historic Spa Country Railway for the journey.
Saturday 29 August delivers another stacked day as Kate Miller-Heidke brings her dream-pop brilliance to St Peter’s Church. Meanwhile at Bullarto Hall, Romy Vager is supported by explosive rock quartet Public Figures in the afternoon, before Australian rock legends Magic Dirt close the night with Beans in support. Country favourites Hana & Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits also play the intimate Old Schoolhouse in Kooroocheang that afternoon.
The festival winds down on Sunday 30 August with folk diviner Leah Senior at Glenlyon Community Hall in the morning, Pony Face presenting a meditative reimagining of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska at Bullarto Hall, and powerful songwriter William Crighton closing out the day at the Old Schoolhouse in Kooroocheang.
Now firmly established as a highlight of the regional calendar, Winter Sounds offers the perfect excuse to swap city life for mulled wine, frosty mornings and unforgettable performances in some of Victoria’s most atmospheric venues. Beyond the music, the weekend delivers crackling fires, train rides through the countryside and that unmistakable community spirit that makes this boutique event so special.
