What’s on at Melbourne Music Week tonight: Tuesday December 7

Melbourne Music Week is lighting up the city's otherwise gloomy Tuesday night with two films and a thumping techno bash from 6pm onwards.

Wash My Soul In The River’s Flow

Location: ACMI
Date: Tuesday, December 7
Time: 6pm
Price: $14.00 – $18.00
Genre: Country / Folk / Blues

After its special opening last night, tonight’s your last chance to catch the special documentary encapsulating an incredible story and musical performance.

It took two years of planning for Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter – two Australian musical legends and members of the Stolen Generation – to join forces with Paul Grabowsky’s Australian Art Orchestra for a special performance in 2004, which has since been turned into a documentary by director Philippa Bateman (Jindabyne) and producer Emma Donovan.

A Fistful of Dollars with Live Score by Chiara Kickdrum

Location: ACMI
Date: Tuesday, December 7
Time: 6:30pm
Price: $25-$30
Genre: Electronic

This promises to be something special. The celebrated Clint Eastwood western will take on huge new resonance, and perhaps a slightly different meaning altogether, when paired with the phenomenal electronic compositions of celebrated Melbourne DJ Chiara Kickdrum.

Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars was Clint Eastwood’s film debut, before the pair went on to combine for one of the finest films of the 20th century in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. It’s a film partially credited with re-defining the western genre – Leone famous for inventing the Spaghetti Western idea sub-genre – but under Kickdrum’s score, expect the film to showcase a stellar display of the Japanese roots that underpin it.

MMW Club: Stable Music & ASW Presents – Awesome Soundwave Live

Location: MMW Club, Max Watt’s
Date: Tuesday, December 7
Time: 7pm
Price: Sold Out
Genre: Electronic

This one’s sold out, but we had to include it anyway as it’s perhaps the largest headline event of an electronically-focused program, packing the star power of Carl Cox who’ll B2B Christopher Coe, alongside Honeysmack, Ehsan Gelsi, Monolith, Jani Ho and Yarra for what promises to be a huge Tuesday night party.

If you were quick enough to get tickets, congrats because you’re in for a treat.
