The enigmatic five-piece have just announced their return with their most ambitious project to date.

Casey makes the kind of music that reaches out and draws something from within its listeners. Using evocative lyricism and crushing layers of sound, the band builds and releases emotional tension, giving fans a place to sit with some of life’s darker, more ambiguous feelings.

They’ve just announced their latest album, How To Disappear, set to be released on January 12 via Greyscale Records/Hassle Records. Following 2018’s Where I Go When I Am Sleeping and the band’s debut Love Is Not Enough, the band’s third album grapples with the idea of loss and the traces we leave behind when we’re gone.

“How to Disappear seeks to unravel the enduring impact we leave on our loved ones after our time has come to an end. This record explores the enigmatic intersection of existence and grief across the course of 12 songs,” says the band.

Alongside the album announcement, the band have also released the title track. Coming in at just over five minutes, the song is a whirlwind of emotion bringing in elements of alternative rock, shoegaze, hardcore and emo. Anchored by Tom Weaver’s melodic vocals, it wells into a cathartic chorus that leaves a lasting impression and gives listeners a taste of what’s to come on the full length.

Casey last visited Australia in 2018 playing a string of dates along the East Coast before breaking up a year later at what some would call the peak of their popularity. The band’s only goal was to make music that resonated with themselves and their fans – once they lost that feeling, they stepped away from the spotlight.

But during their time apart, they were embued with a newfound inspiration to create. On their previous single, the heavy-hitting Puncture Wounds to Heaven, the band’s maturity and intentional songwriting shines bright. The meticulous instrumentation, poetic lyrics and distinct style shows that Casey’s hiatus has only made their resolve even stronger.
