Stroll through a market and discover jewellery, beauty products, books and more, while you indulge in crepes, cheese, brioche, pastries and French Caribbean goods. Test your love of French culture with an online French Trivia event and explore Melbourne with a walking tour.

With cocktail and wine and cheese masterclasses, live entertainment and key talks from Les Lumières about topical issues as well as French history and art – there’s something for everyone, whether on site at Federation Square or from home.

The festival starts online from Thursday July 14, on Bastille Day. Bastille Day is celebrated annually on the day that the famous prison was stormed by revolutionaries, marking the start of the French Revolution (the King Louis guillotine one, not the Les Mis one). The Bastille Day French Festival will take place over the weekend on Saturday 16 – Sunday 17 at Federation Square.

So, raise your glass of champagne (not sparkling wine, sacré bleu…) and celebrate all things French this July.
