Video premiere: The Hackkets take us on a trip around the world with ‘I Love To Travel’

This globetrotting stop motion film clip is the perfect lockdown escape.

On the back of recently releasing their new single, ‘I Love To Travel’, Melbourne six-piece The Hackkets are back with a film clip to accompany the track.

A collaboration with animation designers Todd Watts and Nick Fox, the stop motion video clip spans singing camels and space expeditions as The Hackkets make their way around the globe.

A classic pop-rock track, the single melds jangly keys and a steady groove with upbeat, singable lyrics, culminating in a lighthearted, easy listening ditty.

“Teaming up with The Hackkets during lockdown in 2020, the goal was to recreate the magic of travel in a style that reflected the band. Travelling isn’t all buttoned up tours and fancy hotels, it’s an adventure, it’s wild and it’s fun,” said animator, Todd Watts of the film clip.

“Just like a travel scrapbook, we wanted to use collaged images, animated text and plenty of layering to create a unique, fast-paced music video to match the energy of the song,” he said.

The Hackkets are part of Footscray Community Art Centre’s ArtLife program, which supports artists with disability, and will officially launch ‘I Love To Travel’ with a screening of the film clip at Hotel Westwood for West Set in August.
