Even if the lockdown is lifted this week, restrictions are unlikely to revert back to what they were prior to the recent outbreak, meaning West Set’s goal of supporting the recovery of local hospitality venues in the City of Maribyrnong will be reduced.
What’s more, for West Set, the safety of its artists, venues and audience members is first and foremost.
“The West Set music festival aims to not only showcase performers but to also attract visitors to our city to boost our local business. While it’s unfortunate the current COVID climate has impacted the original dates, rescheduling will mean we can still support our traders when the current restrictions lift,” Cr Michael Clarke, Mayor of Maribyrnong City Council, said in a statement.
“We’re also here for our local artists, who are among the first affected and the last to come back after a lockdown, and will look at other opportunities for further programming to support our artist community.”
The venues participating in this year’s run of events include Baby Snakes, Hotel Westwood, Kindred Studios, Sloth Bar, Littlefoot, Jambo, The Cheeky Pint, Small French Bar, Corner 90, Pride of our Footscray, Footscray Hotel, Victoria Hotel, Bluestone Church, and Counterweight Vinyl.
As for West Set’s lineup, the likes of Angie McMahon, Joelistics, Soju Gang, Kee’ahn, Jazz Party, Cool Out Sun, Jess Ribeiro, June Jones, and more are set to appear on stages across Footscray for the series.
