Video premiere: Fleeting Persuasion laments the end of summer with ‘Task Ahead’

The track comes ahead of his debut LP.

Melbourne singer-songwriter James Spencer Harrison returns under the new moniker Fleeting Persuasion, offering a new sonic direction and a brand new music video to boot.

The musician’s latest offering comes in the wake of his 2017 LP Traced Out, released under his solo project J M S Harrison. Chasing a fuller sound, Harrison opted for a fresh slate by adopting the Fleeting Persuasion guise for his new vision.

Making his debut as Fleeting Persuasion, Harrison has now revealed his third single, ‘Task Ahead’, taken from the forthcoming album Forever Caught. The film clip was shot in late February on the road to Aireys Inlet and captures the feeling that comes with the end of summer. The track itself embodies a sense of urgency and disorientation — emotions Harrison attributes with the change in seasons.

The single is just another taste of Fleeting Persuasion’s debut, Forever Caught, a ten-track LP recorded at Melbourne’s Crosstown Studios, due for release in early September. To launch the album, Harrison will take his new songs on the road for shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

‘Task Ahead’ is out now. Catch Fleeting Persuasion at Labour In Vain, Fitzroy on Saturday September 7 and Botany View Hotel, Newtown on Friday October 18.
