Indie Symphony II returns with Baldur's Gate 3, UNDERTALE and Melbourne's own Untitled Goose Game in the mix.

Following a sold-out debut in 2023, Orchestra Victoria is gearing up for round two of their epic gaming extravaganza, bringing the lush soundscapes of indie video games to the concert hall this winter.

Hosted by ABC Classic’s gaming guru Meena Shamaly, Indie Symphony II promises to transform Hamer Hall into an immersive pixel playground, backed by a 60-piece orchestra, choir and guest artists, all wrapped up in a visual feast of lighting and projections.

The program is a proper gaming nerd’s wet dream, headlined by the Australian premiere of Borislav Slavov’s Baldur’s Gate 3 soundtrack. The record-smashing RPG has become a proper cultural phenomenon, with its cinematic scope, inclusive characters and rich storytelling winning over hardcore gamers and curious newcomers alike.

Fans can also expect to hear Toby Fox’s emotional masterpiece UNDERTALE performed live, alongside the serene underwater world of ABZÛ and the gothic brutality of Darkest Dungeon. For local pride, Melbourne’s own cultural export Untitled Goose Game will bring its mischievous honking to the orchestral setting, while the highly-anticipated dungeon crawler Hades II gets its world-first live performance.

“It is once again my immense pleasure to be partnering with the Orchestra Victoria on an absolutely spectacular lineup of videogame music from across the globe! As with the first Indie Symphony show, this is a setlist the likes of which has never been performed!” says a-winning featured composer, Austin Wintory.

“Many world premieres of hit games from the last several years, including I’m grateful to say some work of my own. I hope the audience in Melbourne realise how singularly lucky they are! NO ONE is putting on shows quite like this anywhere on Earth!”

Whether you’re a controller-wielding veteran or just dig orchestral music with a contemporary twist, this promises to be a proper winter highlight for Melbourne’s gaming community.
