Victoria Gets New Music Works Grants

livemusic.jpg

The new Creative Victoria program is set up to support musicians, music managers and industry organisations at all stages of their careers.

This includes creating and recording music, initiatives that build up the industry (workshops, masterclasses, industry conferences, professional development opportunities) and activities that help the industry win new audiences, including support for regional, national and international touring.

Full program details, including guidelines, sample applications and templates are available here

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley made the announcement last night at a Music Victoria panel on funding as part of Leaps and Bounds.  Music Works Grants will provide support up to $75,000 for music projects and programs and is part of the Labor Government’s $12.2 million contemporary music package delivered in the 2015-16 Victorian Budget.

“Contemporary music plays a key role in our creative industries and the Andrews Labor Government is proud to support Victoria’s contemporary music sector,” Foley said. “Music Works Grants are part of our unprecedented investment in the sector in recognition of the important role live music plays in this state, socially, economically and culturally. These grants are not just about creating great new works, but supporting music makers to take the next step in their careers and build their business skills.”

Music Works Grants open for applications on July 12 and close on August 12. Projects supported in this round can start from November 15, 2015. Applicants are encouraged to speak to Creative Victoria’s music grants team before applying.
