In the seventh instalment of DEPTH. PERCEPTION, the Melbourne-based DJ shows off his skills.

Rolling basslines, crunchy guitar riffs and thudding beats bring to mind images of a smoked-out, sweaty dancefloor – not a swamp. Yet the natural beauty of Victoria’s Winton Wetlands provides the perfect backdrop to DJ Uone’s Western-inspired deep house beats.

Dedicated to showcasing some of Australia’s most eclectic electronic musicians in the most jaw-dropping outdoor locations across the country, DEPTH. PERCEPTION has just released its seventh episode, featuring DJ Uone.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

In the past, the collective has hosted and supported acts including Retza, Dave Leck, Funkform, Timmus, Mount Mike and Moontide Ensemble. They plan on continuing to showcase Australian artists with all original music on their growing YouTube channel.

“I believe we can begin to see a relationship with the air, the water, the fire, the earth, that ushers us into a place of production for the means of restoration,” opens Uone’s mix over an esoteric soundscape.

“Producing to restore people, families, communities and the planet, as we bring in this place, utilizing these ancient technologies of drum, wisdom, prayer, song, we will transcend this experience into a new world.”

Fusing danceable beats, bellowing horns, vocal samples and indigenous instruments, the mix was specially crafted to fit right seamlessly with the location.

Working on his feather-adorned decks, Uone bounces along to his tunes. Behind him, the sun slowly sets over the glassy Lake Mokoan.

The video is a teaser for what’s to come at the Chi Wow Wah Town music festival, set to run from February 23 to 25. Ran by Uone and taking place in the very spot where he can be seen performing, it’s guaranteed to be an enlightening weekend of music and spirit.

Fans can catch his set alongside others from Stavroz, Robag Wruhme, Buskwacka!, Desert Dwellers, Heimlich Knüller and many others during the three-day event, which will also feature performance, interactive art, meditations, yoga, sound baths and psychedelic explorations.

With a lush lakeside location and a stacked lineup to boot, Chi Wow Wah Town is sure to be unforgettable.
