This second-helping of the TRON: Legacy soundtrack compiles remixes of Daft Punk’s original work by a varied bunch of up-and-comers (Avicii, Pretty Lights, Com Truise) and I-thought-they-were-retired (Moby, The Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold), with the eclectic mix resulting in an album that’s much more loud and danceable than its predecessor. The Glitch Mob open proceedings strongly with a bass-driven, solid-as-hell dubsteppin’ take on Derezzed, that like all good covers / remixes ups the ante on the original and then some. The Crystal Method’s The Grid, arguably the album’s highlight , commands us to rise from our cinema seat and dance. Complete with obligatory Jeff Bridges samples, the layers and clean-cut freshness on show here all seamlessly work and are reminiscent of vintage CM at their best. Paul Oakenfold’s rep is none-hurt-either by his epic take on C.L.U., so too Com Truise’s insistently retro Encom Part 2 and not forgetting Sander Kleinenberg’s neat funkster of a closer on Tron Legacy (End Titles). Overall, this abum is worth the price of entry.
