Triple R's April Amnesty subscription drive kicks off with a stacked Live at RRR lineup and prize giveaways for the station's 50th anniversary year.
Triple R’s April Amnesty subscription drive returns for 2026, with the beloved Melbourne station celebrating its 50th year on the airwaves.
The community radio institution is leaning into the milestone by reviving one of its earliest subscription slogans, asking listeners how much longer they can escape the crushing guilt of not subscribing. Running throughout April, the campaign encourages new and lapsed listeners to sign up and show their support for the not-for-profit Brunswick East station, which has been broadcasting algorithm-free, volunteer-driven radio since 1976.

Anyone who subscribes or donates during April Amnesty will automatically enter the draw to win a collection of prizes, with the full list available on the Triple R website. Subscribers also unlock access to the Triple R Performance Space, where the station has assembled a strong run of exclusive gigs for the month.
The Live at RRR lineup for April kicks off in spectacular fashion. The Maps April Amnesty Opening Party on 1 April features sets from Way Shit, Camp Cope, DRMNGNOW and Lucy Dacus, hosted by Fee B Squared. On 7 April, Vaughan Quinn’s Double Bounce marks a decade on the airwaves with a special live broadcast featuring Bhairavi Raman and Nanthesh Sivarajah, who blend Carnatic and Western classical traditions through violin and mridangam.
Seminal swamp-rockers The Scientists take over the Performance Space for a Beat Orgy session, with frontman Kim Salmon joined by members of Kim Salmon and the Surrealists. Melbourne 10-piece Black Jesus eXperience bring their combination of Ethiopian song, jazz, hip hop and funk on 17 April, hosted by Shambe Olweny-Pu of Opium Audia. Hedge Burners, Tongue Dissolver and Palm Springs round out the rest of the month’s programming.
All Live at RRR events are exclusive to Triple R subscribers, who can register for a chance to attend via the station’s website. Annual subscriptions start from $95 for a standard membership, with concession, passionate ($195) and business ($500) tiers also available. Perks include subscriber discount cards, The Trip magazine, the iconic bumper sticker and entry to subscriber-only events throughout the year.
With half a century of independent broadcasting behind it, Triple R remains one of Melbourne’s most vital cultural institutions. Its grid spans more than 60 shows covering everything from punk and hip hop to gardening and marine biology, almost entirely presented by unpaid volunteers. April Amnesty and the annual Radiothon are the station’s two major fundraising windows, and the money raised goes directly toward keeping it on air and independent.
