Papa Smurf brings his legendary old-school trance sound to Nerve this Friday.
Melbourne’s club scene has thrown up plenty of legends over the years, but few have left a mark quite like this one.
Papa Smurf, the DJ widely credited as one of the architects of the city’s old-school trance era, is set to debut at Nerve this Friday.

Back at the turn of the millennium, Papa Smurf was one of the driving forces behind Melbourne’s euphoric trance sound, soundtracking a club culture that was arguably at its most electric.
He’s never really gone away either; his 2020 set at Pitch racked up over 74,000 plays online, introducing his sound to a whole new generation of dancefloor regulars who weren’t even around the first time he was packing out rooms.
Since then, he’s notched up a string of sold-out headline shows, cementing his status as a genuine fixture of the scene rather than a nostalgia act.
This Friday marks his first appearance at Nerve, and it’s shaping up to be a big one. Support on the night comes from AK-97, Mimosa, Korey Dobson and Jesse G, rounding out a lineup built for a proper old-school throwdown. Expect a state-of-the-art drum and bass sound system across two rooms, plus an outdoor rooftop area for when things get a bit much inside.
Drink specials on the night include six-dollar Carlton, 10-dollar Alizé and Agwa, 11-dollar vodkas and basics, and 12-dollar South Ave’s, running all night long.
Nerve has positioned itself as one of Melbourne’s go-to venues for raw, underground electronic music, and this booking continues that. Don’t miss out!
