Tor de Force is the MICF debut Tor Snyder has been building toward for 13 years

Tor Snyder is bringing her debut solo show, Tor de Force, to Melbourne this April, and it sounds like an absolute riot.

Born in Australia, raised in Canada and forged in the fires of the Perth comedy scene, Tor Snyder has one of the more unlikely origin stories in Australian comedy.

From bombing onstage for the first time in 2013 to hosting Comedy Zone at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2021 and taking home a Fringe World WA Newspaper Award, she’s carved out a reputation as one of the most dynamic acts on the circuit.

Tor de Force is the product of 13-plus years of stage time, and it shows; in the best possible way. Equal parts chaotic and crafted, the 50-minute show is a collection of stories, impressions and sharp observations built for one purpose: loud, slightly unhinged laughter.

Snyder’s background as the owner of One Nightstand Furniture, where she restores vintage chairs and couches with serious attention to structure, turns out to be a surprisingly apt metaphor for her comedy.

She applies the same instinct for tension and release to a live audience as she does to a forgotten couch.

The result is something silly on purpose, nonsensical by design, but with real structural integrity underneath.

For something extra special, Snyder has personally reupholstered eight front row wild card seats specifically for this run, and those spots are a little cheaper compared to the rest of the house on most nights.

Limited to eight per show and available pre-show, they’re a genuinely odd and charming touch that fits the whole vibe of Tor de Force perfectly.

Whether you’re a devoted comedy nerd or someone who just wandered in off the street, Tor Snyder is shaping up to be a highlight of MICF 2026.
