The popular Midweek melbourne Money dining rebate scheme will come to an end at 11:59pm tonight Monday 11 April. It's your last chance to get 25% off your food and booze bill.

The program, which is a joint initiatiative between City of Melbourne and the Victorian government – has dished out more than 265,000 25% dining and drinking rebates since the program begun. City of Melbourne says this has injected around $30 million into CBD businesses.

The dining scheme will end at 11.59pm on Monday, after five weeks.

The program’s success has been a solid indicator of Melburnians’ willingness to re-engage with the city’s culture and hospitality sectors. Night-time pedestrian activity in Southbank nudged pre-pandemic levels from 4 April to 6 April, at 94 per cent of the 2019 benchmark. Night-time pedestrian activity on Wednesday night was up 22 per cent compared to the previous week.

Despite the huge array of events on offer, many Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows have been selling out, and an all-time record 420,000 people attended the Australian Grand Prix in Albert Park last weekend.

Midweek Melbourne Money offers a 25 per cent rebate on meals at restaurants, cafes and bars across the municipality from Monday to Thursday, when diners upload their receipt online. While Midweek Melbourne Money is ending, visitors to the city can still take advantage of the Victorian Government’s $30 million Victorian Entertainment Program, offering 25 per cent back on eligible entertainment purchases over $40, including tickets to the theatre, live music and museums and galleries.

“For the second year running Midweek Melbourne Money has been an unstoppable success, helping bring people back to the city in huge numbers,” Lord Mayor Sally Capp said.

“Monday is the last chance for diners to enjoy a discounted meal, and we want to see people filling Melbourne’s world-renowned restaurants and cafes to make the most of it.

“There’s also still plenty of value on offer in the city, through the Victorian Entertainment Program. Book your tickets for any number of amazing shows, from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to Broadway hit Hamilton and help us to keep the momentum going.”
