TISM reveal surprise live album, their first release since 2010

From their performance at The Corner in May 1988.

Peruse TISM’s Spotify profile and you’ll find a new 18-track gem from a show they played at The Corner on May 30, 1988. Simply titled Live At The Corner Hotel 30 May 1988, it’s the first skerrick of music from the band since they released a 21st-century remix of their song, ‘Shut Up – The Footy’s on the Radio’, in 2010.

During the heights of the band, they were lauded as one of Australia’s most dynamic live outfits and constantly drew praise for their witty lyricism and take-no-prisoners approach to performing. Completely anonymous with each member wearing a balaclava, much of their intrigue came from the fact no member could be identified from the other.

The 1988 show in question came just before TISM released their debut album, Great Truckin’ Songs of the Renaissance, the first of six studio albums from the band. It features some of their most-loved hits, such as ‘Saturday Night Palsy’, ‘The Mystery of the Artist Explained’ and ‘Defecate on my Face’, while also featuring a host of B-sides and the unreleased song, ‘Opium is the Religion of the Masses’.

It’s important to note that this record isn’t a completely new release from the band – the live album has been jumping around online as a bootleg for more than a decade.
