Tame Impala teams up with The Streets for new song

The combo we never thought we’d get.

It’s clear Kevin Parker is one of music’s most sought-after producers with everyone from rapper Travis Scott to electronic artist ZHU and smooth tastemaker Theophilus London welcoming Parker on board. Now, The Streets’ Mike Skinner has opened his front door to the Perth wizard.

Parker features on the first track of None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive, the new mixtape from Skinner set to drop on July 10 through Island Records. Titled ‘Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better’, the track is inspired by the coronavirus crisis with Skinner and Parker engaging in phone call tag and Parker pleading to return the call, “I was gonna call you back/I swear/Just as soon as I felt…

The song is accompanied by a film clip, which features Parker cooped up in his home. There are also a host of other musicians featured in the video – some of the UK’s rising hip hop crop are represented by Ms. Banks, Kasien, Dapz on the Map, Jimothy Lacoste and more, each of whom feature on the new mixtape.

None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive will be the first full-length release from The Streets since 2011’s Computers and Blues with each of the mixtape’s 12 songs a collaboration. Others who have lent their crafts to the release include IDLES, Rob Harvey, Greentea Peng, Chris Lorenzo and more.
