These Kids Wear Crowns, far as one can sniff out on the interwebs, are Canada’s answer to Short Stack, a six-member modern-day boy band blending the vaguest of rock and roll sensibilities with pounding Katy Perry-style party pop. Their debut single, Jumpstart, was a pretty much de rigeur example of monster hook writing, leaping face first onto the dance floor and pounding the air with all the energy their skinny little teenage arms could muster. This follow up single is a fully digitised and Autotuned cover of the Whitney Houston classic that needs more Whitney. The Canadian version shares the sustained euphoric hysteria of Jumpstart and the inevitable pounding chorus that attends all contemporary pop hits, which I have taken great pleasure in until right this second. Euphoric hysteria is so boring, all of a sudden.
